Happy Halloween

It was with some surprise that I noticed it's been five years since I posted something on Halloween in this semi-dormant blog of mine. Tempus fugit, indeed. Well, maybe not to our cherished muse, Elvira, Mistress of the Dark. She irradiates such immortal beauty. Oh, Elvira, tempus fugit, forma manet. So here it is: Happy Halloween folks.

While watching a couple of Elviras from her early days, I think she got hotter as she got older, maybe because her face is less full and therefore a little more "skeletal?" Though I don't think anyone with her dimensions can ever quite pull off "the lean and hungry look."

A follow-up: some Internet hiccup evidently prevented your comments to my Kevin O'Neil post from manifesting. I saw them, in part, on the dashboard, but for some reason they just never showed up on the public post. I've seen one or two other similar phenomena, but usually only with people trying to post ads. If you try again I've no idea if a third post will go through, but I guess anything's possible.

Hi there, Gene,

You know I got the same feeling, that Elvira has grown hotter with age? Now, what could explain that? Either too much make-up and photoshop, or she made a deal with the devil...
Guess what my bet is?

As to the comment I tried to post on your Kevin O'Neil obituary, indeed it seems to be impossible to get it through. I tried a couple more times in these last few days, but no deal. When I post it it shows on screen right after the Kid's and your own comments, I get the e-mail follow-up notification that my comment was up, but when I check back on your blog, no dice.

Anyway, it was not a very knowlegeable comment, so there was no great loss. Anyway, I leave it here:

"I did love to read THE MICRONAUTS back in the Eighties. I had a serious crush on Marionette. I barely remember anything from the story or the plots, but I do remember I had a serious fascination with the series. I guess one of my favourite Disney stories (and I can't recall title or publication now) was one in which micro-sized aliens landed on Donald's home (I think it was Donald's) with a malfunction on their tiny flying saucer-like spaceship. It was such a strange premise, done with such tender attention to detail... I guess it made the Micronauts resonate a lot stronger with me.
And Marionette: she somehow made me think of a grown-up version of the androginous-looking Musky from Godard and Ribera LE VAGABOND DES LIMBES albums, with their risqué erotic tableaux, that had such a tremendous influence over me since I first read them in the late Seventies-early Eighties.
Not much to add about O'Neil. I think you said it all, Gene, with much more elegance than I could ever do..."

I hope I'll be commenting more regularly in future, as I'll try (once again) to post more frequently, so ww'll see if the problem persists.

Thanks for your comment and follow-up, and keep up with your great and thoughtful posts.

Cheers!

Yeah, there must be some broken code somewhere, since you were just able to post on the previous mythcomics post. I just wanted you to know that it's not me excluding your comment.

I've been meaning to reread some MICRONAUTS in future, and your comparison between Marionette and that Godard character encourages me. I remember liking Acroyear, but the constant "tik-tik" sounds from Bug drove me up the nearest wall!

Happy holidays!
